Assistant / Associate Professor of Small Animal Internal Medicine

Background and Position: Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. A cutting-edge curriculum, with innovative use of technologies and simulations, provide the best possible training for tomorrow’s veterinarians. Students benefit from an accelerated program of seven semesters of integrated preclinical and clinical studies at our beautiful St Kitts campus, and a further year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States. This is a full-time faculty position. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team of three internists teaching small animal medicine and related fields to veterinary students. The teaching will entail participating in team-taught courses in didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction each semester. The facilities include a sophisticated Clinical Skills Laboratory and state of art the classrooms. Clinical teaching will also involve consultation and interaction with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital clinicians. Ross University is actively expanding its research program. Our research focuses on issues strategically relevant to One Health in tropical and developing countries â€" and includes zoonotic diseases, food safety and security, environmental health, and conservation medicine. Research projects in these areas and/or teaching methodologies, as well other forms of scholarly activity, are expected. Knowledge, skills, and abilities commensurate with ACVIM/ECVIM/ACVECC/ABVP board certification or eligibility are required. Clinical and teaching experience in the U.S., Canada, or the United Kingdom or equivalent is preferred. The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. A primary interest, and focus on teaching veterinary students is an absolute job essential. A competitive salary and all the benefits of the RUSVM’s employment package await the right person.
