KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship required

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required

Current, valid, unrestricted driver's license and safe driving record

Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required

Background and/or Security Investigation required

DUTIES:
This position requires the incumbent to drive a government vehicle to various home-based rural locations in New Jersey. Rural areas covered will be primarily but not limited to Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon counties. The Rural Health (RH) Physician provides medical leadership to an interdisciplinary team focused on serving homebound patients living in New Jersey's rural counties (primarily Warren, Sussex and Hunterdon) through the Home Based Primary Care Program. The Physician works closely with Nurse Practitioners who carry panels of Veteran patients and may oversee her/his own panel. Should be familiar with Joint Commission Home Care Standards. Geriatrician required, home care experience preferred.

Relocation/recruitment expenses will not be reimbursed.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens). Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Current, unrestricted driver's license and safe driving record required. Board certification or eligibility is preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: See VA Handbook 5005, Part III, Chapter 2, paragraph 7, and VA Handbook 5019, Occupational Health Services. All applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the duties of the position.
